Patchwork - Folksy Friday No 36

When looking to see who has added my shop to their favourites this week, I came across a shop which was new to me. Popping over to look at the shop window I found that I loved every one of the items on display!

I have long liked patchwork. I love stitching my own designs and enjoy the work of others. The idea of using scraps and re-using un-worn parts of previously loved items appeals to me. I have my daughter's baby and toddler dresses safely stored for an 'I will find time one day' project - precious memories revisited.  Many of my favourite items on Flickr are examples of crazy patchwork - wonderfully inventive, heavily embellished and very time consuming.

There are many beautiful patchwork items to admire amongst the Folksy stores. I wanted to share these with you. Two of them are from Poppypatchwork, my 'new discovery'. Click on any item to visit it on its Folksy shelf.

    I love the Denim patchwork bag, so cool, and I know that there are a lot of teenage girls that would love it too, it goes across the generations.

    Thankyou very much for the feature - yes, patchwork is quite a special way to incorporate bits of fabrics that have a meaning to you in, and I love the vintagey feel of it (plus ever since The Onion did a piece gently mocking the idea of buying pre-cut snippets of fabric to deliberately look like old remnants, I've tried to use more actual remnants - but the FQs of crazy quilting fabrics with dancing frogs etc on are so tempting, aren't they?! :D ).

    I love patchwork too, but rarely have the time these days tis very time consuming. Must say I love the denim bag too.

    Like you, I fell in love with everything on Poppypatchwork's site! As well as being very functional, her work is so eye-catching and would suit all ages. Each one of these shops has beautiful creations - lovely blog!

    Lovely. I taught a patchwork class yesterday it was a mixed reaction, some clearly unimpressed some loving it and taking scraps home to make it bigger.
